The Children's Workshop is a nut free school. Please keep this and other childrens' allergies in mind when selecting snacks. Besides these obvious safety concerns, feel free to be creative and have fun!
SOME GENERAL SNACK SUGGESTIONS
Snacks can be nutritious and fun, with a little advanced planning. Here are some suggestions, but please do not limit your creativity. New ideas and tastes are always welcome!
Beverages: 100% fruit juice or milk. Please avoid Hi-C, Kool-Aid, etc.
Veggies and dip. Veggies are great plain, but dip always makes them more acceptable
Popcorn. Can be varies with the addition of raisins, herbs or grated cheese.
Crackers with any of the following: cheese, jelly, cream cheese. Plain crackers are fine, too, and don’t overlook animal crackers and graham crackers.
Home baked breads and muffins, and even low-sugar cookies. Please avoid baked goods with frostings, chocolate, and a high sugar content. Traditional cupcakes are fine for a celebration or birthday.
Applesauce and other low sugar processed fruits.
Fresh fruit (preparation at home, if possible).
Cold cereal and milk.
Yogurt.
Soup in cold weather is a treat.
Whole grain bread and butter, jelly, etc.
